Erosion control

Heavy flooding due to the Medicane continues to add to erosion and soil depletion in Spain and worldwide. Factors such as urban development and barren lands allow rain waters to turn into rapid rivers. With no natural forests or plant clusters acting as ‘speed bumps’, water cannot be slowed, spread or sunk into the ground. This is one of the main permaculture ideals when managing water. Water which does not sink into the ground, follows gravity down into city valleys and eventually the sea. A precious element is lost in the desert, where it is needed most. The land can be a sponge if we allow it to be.. .
