With 70% of Earth covered by ocean, it is evident how vital marine environments are to the planet. The data collected in all the Labs work to conserve this ecosystem. Montemero together with AAE initiates frequent beach cleanups that scientifically record data about the waste extracted. This work contributes to a worldwide database, creating compelling evidence for conservation. The Marine Lab hosts educational opportunities to visitors, university students and school children alike. Problems such as cigarette butts, marine debris, unsuitable aquatic conditions and environmental toxins are studied to design relevant solutions.
